Music MinistrySing with Joy; an informal, intergenerational event, brings people together to praise God through music. The "sitting around the campfire" atmosphere gives everyone the opportunity to sing old favorites as well as learn new praise songs, as they give praise to God. This once-a-month event meets on Sunday evenings. A light meal is provided. Our sanctuary choir is a welcoming group of people who meet each Thursday evening at 7:30 pm to practice anthems and hymns for weekly worship and special services. All who enjoy singing are gladly received. No previous choir experience or voice training is necessary, nor is it necessary that you read music. Our choir director will work with your voice “as is” and help you develop it into an instrument for God’s praise. Trained section leaders (students from Indiana University) will support your desire to offer your gift of singing. Our adult handbell choir adds color and variety to our music, often helping to accompany the choir anthem and congregational hymn singing. They also present special seasonal music throughout the year. The handbell choir practices Thursdays at 6:30 pm. New members are always welcome. No previous handbell ringing experience is necessary, nor do you need to be able to read music. Music for children is incorporated into our Sunday morning church school program, beginning at 9:45 am. The Cherub Choir (ages 4 through 1st grade) the Junior Choir (grades 2-5), and the Youth Ensemble ( grades 6-8 )meet in separate areas to sing, practice handbells, and work with a variety of rhythm instruments. They offer their gifts in worship services throughout the year. |
