Intergenerational Retreat
Join in the fun for all ages as First Christian and Mt. Gilead retreat to the woods at Camp Bedford the weekend of October 4 & 5.  Rev. Kathy Donley will lead us in exploring the theme, which looks at who we are and who God is calling us to be.  There will be games, crafts, music, campfire activities, worship, and a whole lot of fun.   Call the church office for a registration form and brochure.

Sowing Seeds of Faith
Everyone is invited to participate in an All-Church Intergenerational Learning Experience , Sundays, August 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 9:45 – 10:45 am in Great Hall.

Local Outreach

The Gathering Place provides food, shelter and community to downtown neighbors in need from 8:30 to 10:00 am every Sunday in Great Hall. Volunteers to help serve are welcome; training is provided.

Monroe County United Ministries provides emergency assistance to families experiencing a financial crisis and subsidizes childcare for low-income working families. MCUM also operates “Opportunity House” which sells used clothing and household items with proceeds going to fund their programs. Congregants support MCUM through ongoing donations of money, food and time.Click here for MCUM

Habitat for Humanity has partnered with First Christian Church for many years. Currently, plans are underway to remodel the church’s vacant parsonage to become the local offices for Habitat for Humanity. Several congregants volunteer their services to Habitat during the year. Crop Walk is an annual event for church members, coordinated by the Justice Task Group. The Justice Task Group sponsors other hunger related projects throughout the year. (Click here for more information on CROP Walk.)
