Sunday Morning Classes For Adults
9:45 - 10:45 am

God and Harry Potter at Yale (Campbellite Room, Second Floor) This study is based on a book which tells the story of a teacher and her students who reflect on the Potter novels as a way to explore the heights of theology and literature for answers about eternal questions of faith, revelation, slavation, and what it means to be human. Andy Stafford and Sandy Rampley are discussion leaders.

Blessed Are You: The Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and in Life (Firestudy Study, Main Floor) What does a blessed life mean? Through examining the Old Testament roots and context of the Beatitudes (as recorded in Matthew 5), and by exploring the contemporary implications of these powerful words, participants discover fresh understanding and insights to enrich faith. This class is led by Nancy Heimer.

The Good Book: Reading the Bible with Mind and Heart (Room 14, Lower Floor)
Why is the Bible so often used as a tool for division and exclusion? And why are so many intelligent and compassionate people embarrassed to say they find wisdom and comfort in the Bible? This groundbreaking book by Peter Gnomes, the man TIME magazine called one of the seven best preachers in America, provides answers to these questions and shows what the Bible says about topics that concern us all. With compassion, insight and humor, he gives readers the tools and understanding they need to make the ancient wisdom of the Bible a dynamic part of their lives. Led by David Garshaw, class format is conversational and participants are encouraged to bring in questions and other related sources for consideration. Suggested donation: $5 for the book.

LYFE (Third Floor)
One of the central concerns for any Christian looking to grow in faith is learning to connect with God in everyday life. A new small group resource called lyfe is designed to do just that. Lyfe is about hearing God, through the Bible, in the company of others. It is a conversation between friends seeking a richer relationship with God. Lyfe will introduce you to tried and tested challenges which have helped people go deeper with God. Its all about exploring day to day what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus now. Participants will have the opportunity to access video and documents on the web to deepen their exploration of each week's topic. Facilitated by Connie Myers, this small group experience is sponsored by the A Place Apart Class.
