Blessed Are You: The Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and in Life
Fireside Study (Main Floor)

What does a blessed life mean? Through examining the Old Testament
roots and context of the Beatitudes (as recorded in Matthew 5), and by exploring the contemporary implications of these powerful words, participants discover fresh understanding and insights to enrich faith.   Led by Nancy Heimer, this class meets in the Fireside Study on the main floor.

God and Harry Potter at Yale
Campbellite Room (Second Floor)

This study is based on a book which tells the story of a teacher and her students who reflect on the Potter novels as a way to explore the heights of theology and literature for answers about eternal questions of faith, revelation, salvation, and what it means to be human.  Andy Stafford and Sandy Rampley are discussion leaders. This class meets in the Campbellite Room on the second floor.

The Good Book: Reading the Bible with Mind and Heart
Room 14 (Lower Floor)

Why is the Bible so often used as a tool for division and exclusion? And why are so many intelligent and compassionate people embarrassed to say they find wisdom and comfort in the Bible? This ground breaking book by Peter Gnomes, the man Time magazine called one of the best preachers in America, provides answers to these questions and shows what the Bible says about topics that concern us all. With compassion, insight, and humor, he gives readers the tools and understanding they need to make the ancient wisdom of the Bible a dynamic part of their lives. Led by David Garshaw, class format is conversational and participants are encouraged to bring in questions and other related sources for consideration. Suggested donation: $5 for the book.

LYFE
(Third Floor)

A coffeehouse environment for new Christians and Christians who want to be made new and who want to explore what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus now. One of the central concerns for any Christian looking to grow in faith is learning to connect with God in everyday life. A new small group resource called lyfe is designed to do just that. Lyfe is about hearing God, through the Bible, in the company of others. It is a conversation between friends seeking a richer relationship with God. Lyfe will introduce you to tried and tested challenges which have helped people go deeper with God. Participants will have the opportunity to access video and documents on the web to deepen their exploration of each week's topic. Facilitated by Connie Myers, this small group experience meets on the third floor.

Sunday Morning ( Children and Youth)

During the Worship Hour:
Each Sunday following the children's message, children who are 4 years old through the third grade are invited to Room 1 for a special hour of faith formation we call Live B.I.G.. Under the leadership of Kate Kroll, each session includes a brief DVD segment featuring teenagers living out their Belief In God in ways that are real and relevant. Activities, sharing, and prayer help "bring home" the message of God's love through Christ. Quality childcare is provided in Room 2 for children under age 4.

During the Church School Hour (9:45-10:45am):
Rock Solid, our church school curriculum for pre-school and elementary age children, provides a comprehensive overview of the Bible that covers the major stories of the Bible over three years. Each week, the children encounter a Bible story that leads them to a deeper understanding of the scripture and offers guidance for daily living. Following a time for music, children first hear the story as told by Linda Abe, our storyteller. Then they go to their classrooms for age-appropriate activities that recinforce the story and build a sense of community.

Grades 6 to 12 will meet in their classroom on the lower level for discussions and sharing.
